NEW POLL: SINEMA WOULD LOSE A PRIMARY TODAY; APPROVALS ARE IN TOILET

New Data for Progress Poll Shows A Whopping 75% of Arizona Democrats DISAPPROVE of Senator Kyrsten Sinema… And she trails every potential primary challenger by at least 29%
Phoenix — Today, Data For Progress released a poll making clear that Senator Kyrsten Sinema’s strategy of obstructing President Biden’s agenda and blatantly ignoring constituents at every turn has failed miserably. Kevin Robillard first reported on the poll results for HuffPost.

The new poll found that a remarkable 75% of Arizona Democrats disapprove of the job Sen. Sinema is doing. This includes 57% of Arizona Democrats who “strongly” disapprove, compared to 20% who approve and just 6% who strongly approve. For context, President Biden boasts a 94% approval among Arizona Democrats and 90% approve of the job Senator Mark Kelly is doing.

Also notable, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema also struggles among voters who identify as “Independents/Other”. Only 37% approve of the job Sinema has done, compared to 68% for Biden and 73% for Kelly.
Data For Progress also tested Sen. Sinema against various potential primary challengers. Consistently, Sinema trailed the potential challengers by significant margins among primary voters (Democrats and Independents). Specifically, Congressman Ruben Gallego would beat Sinema 62% – 23% (+39%) in a Democratic primary. And Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego would win 60% – 25% (+35%) in a primary if it was held tomorrow. These numbers against Sinema also remained strong among potential challengers with very low name ID in the state.

The polling also found that voters would prefer a candidate who supported measures that Sinema has been opposing. For example, 94% of primary voters (Democrats and Independents) would be more likely to support a candidate who supported prescription drug pricing reform.

These dismal numbers for Sen. Sinema should not come as much of a surprise. Sinema has spent much of her first term opposing widely popular policies that are cornerstones of the Democratic and Biden agendas. Most notably, she is currently blocking prescription drug pricing reform legislation and voted against a $15 dollar minimum wage last March.

Senator Sinema has also refused to support efforts to reform the filibuster, an archaic Senate rule that has gotten in the way of most Democratic policy priorities despite Democrats controlling the White House, the House, and the Senate.

Sinema has also consistently avoided not only the press, but also her own constituents. She has not even held a town hall since she was elected in 2018.
