ICYMI: SINEMA DODGES QUESTION ABOUT LUXURY CAMPAIGN SPENDING, REELECTION BID

After last week’s bombshell reporting on Kyrsten Sinema’s questionable luxury campaign spending (including high-end restaurants in Barcelona, London, and Paris, cases of wine, and stays at the Ritz Carlton), Sinema dodged any questions about her campaign spending on luxury travel, high-end restaurants, and wine in an interview with local reporters.

WATCH HERE.

Arizona’s Family (KTVK-TV / KPHO-TV – Phoenix CBS 5 & 3TV) also aired a longer segment dedicated to Sinema’s luxury spending spree as well as her private equity fundraising. Take a look here:

The Arizona Republic also dedicated a column to Sinema’s luxury spending. EJ Montini wrote, “It’s almost as if, over the years, Sinema has transformed herself from Little Orphan Annie into Cruella de Vil. […] No mention in the Post article if anyone noticed a sudden shortage of Dalmatian puppies.” Ouch.

Sinema has mastered the art of the dodge but this issue isn’t going away for her. See below coverage:

According to the New York Post, Sinema spent more than $100,000 of campaign funds on jets, limos, luxury hotels, and wine. The article points out Senator Sinema’s opposition to the “carried-interest” loophole that taxes some financial sectors at a lower rate than other businesses. An analysis by the Post of filings by Sinema with the Federal Elections Commission found nearly half of Sinema’s campaign fund donations in the first quarter of this year came from donors with ties to 3 major private equity firms.

Almost half of her campaign donation came from people associated with three major equity firms during the first quarter of 2023. This comes after Sinema pushed back against a challenge to the “carried interest” loophole that taxes just a handful of private equity and hedge fund profits at a lower rate than other businesses, the Post said.

“It’s pretty simple: Kyrsten Sinema delivered an $18 billion gift to private equity executives and now they’re paying her back with campaign donations,” Sacha Haworth, a former staffer for Sinema, told the publication.
